Dream it. Believe it. Achieve it.
Tips
- Dream it. Believe it. Achieve it.
- Read, read read. There are so many useful articles, studies and books available regarding start-up companies. Learn from others who may be further along in the entreprenurel processs than you are.
- Network. Join local small business associations. Talk to people. Check out my blog roll.
- Look at your risk factors and make provisions accordingly. Remember, there is a difference between a challenge and a risk.
- Get enough sleep. Start-ups require so much time and energy. If you don’t sleep, the latter will be depleted and you will not be able to put your best foot forward. Exhaustion also puts you at risk for impulsive behavior which you can’t afford right now.
- Be exercise and diet smart. Workout. It will help you think clearly and kick-up those endorphines. We careful of too much sugar which may give you that afternoon lull just when you need to be on your toes.
- Make sure your loved ones are “on board” with your business decisions. The last thing you need is someone telling you that you are crazy for starting your own company. You need support right now. You need those around you boosting up confidence and not bringing you down. Let them in. Share your dreams and your challenges.
- Work at home or barter office space. A guy I know writes a few stories for a local magazine in exchange for a desk, phone line and internet. Not a bad deal.
- Take advantage of “grass-roots” marketing tools: linkedin, facebook and word of mouth.
- In tough economic times, advertising is cheap. If you can afford it, advertise now.
- Grow organically- don’t rush things.
- Blog and write on blogs. Search engines will pick up your business this way. Be careful to utilize specific “tags” that will be picked up.
- Write articles- establish yourself as an expert in your industry.
